Bocson is the first part of a triptych devoted to women’s struggles. This piece explores the connections between the popular culture of the North, the history of collective struggles, and the region’s industrial past. “Bocson” is a variant spelling of “boxon”, which means chaos, mess, or den of debauchery.
Bocson is an exploration of the tension between disorder and structure. It draws inspiration from the traditions and history of Northern territories – including mining, carnival, heavy industry, and its social struggles – to create a hybrid space, situated between a celebration of popular culture and a danced utopia. The piece is conceived as a choreographic/graphic manifestation (dance and graphic design) that celebrates the culture and popular struggles of the region, while seeking to explore the analogy between the transformation of the territory and the metamorphoses of women’s bodies.
